First weekend in August and it managed to rain non-stop for one day, however, we did manage to BBQ in the garden.
Dad at 90 in charge of the BBQ.
The leftovers from the BBQ were added to a salad of crab!
Loving my new camera – could do with a tripod when using the zoom feature.
The Dark Matter Cafe in Durham hosted a superhero event right next door to where I live. The Batmobile from Michael Keaton’s Batman was the star of the show. I finally got to meet Batman!
The Darlek persisted in following unsuspecting visitors.
The weather has generally been very kind throughout August and I took advantage of every sunny day to spend it in the garden with Mum and Dad. The Prosecco flowed freely and Dad thoroughly enjoyed taking charge of the BBQ.
Both Mum and Dad have commented upon this summer being a real highlight.
As well as catching up on some reading, school improvement planning etc… building work has been taking place in school. It is almost finished and we will be ready for the new academic year, however, it hasn’t been plain sailing.
Conduits had moved within the screed causing cracking. Suspended ceiling tiles had to be removed, carpets lifted, flooring dug up and new screed laid before new carpet tiles and plumbing fixtures. Three classrooms needed this and the dust was unbelievable. The entire has been repainted and when we return the first INSET day will be spent unpacking 200 tea crates filled with resources and children’s books. It will be quite a mammoth task but not unachievable.
Andrew Cowley’s #Teacher5aDayCook challenge continued with lots of fish and chicken….
The final montage really is ‘taste the rainbow’ – fresh food is always spectacular. The reds and greens always jump off the plate.
As usual, the end of the school holidays is also a time for having hair done so it looks reasonable going back to school. This time I have discovered a most wonderful little shop which is s bit like the Tardis. It has the most amazing gin selection I have ever seen. One or two have found their way back home with me and it means I can add another to my collection each time I visit the hair salon.
As the bank holiday weekend draws to a close, I’ve loved spending it listening to the ultimate Hall of Fame on Classic FM. Even better when live streamed through my Sonos system in every room. It’s raining or pleuting but we make our own sunshine.
Next weekend will see huge changes in my garden as I plant the spring bulbs – narcissi, dwarf tulips and snowdrops.
The last rays of sunshine garden pics….
May your bank holiday be filled with cocktails!
Here’s to another new year! Let’s make an ORRsome one!
