As January 2015 comes to an end, what has it brought you?
Thoroughly enjoyed BBC First January celebrations, especially Queen continuing after midnight.
Lovely New Year’s Day lunch with Mum and Dad. It was a little messy at times peeling the langoustine but well worth it.
We kick started our school year with the extraORRdinary Jez Rose, The Behaviour Expert. We had an amazing mORRning which really focused staff and everyone challenged their own thinking and especially their own behaviour. Their behaviour towards other adults and towards the children in our school.
The wonderful result is it has begun permeating through the school and it is clear to see those who have really embraced this new challenge.
The first week ended with some SCITT students. Having already delivered two sessions to 30+ primary SCITT students, I found myself being persuaded to deliver a session to the secondary SCITT students on expectations at the end of KS2. Although quite daunted by the thought and a whole day of Christmas hols spent planning and preparing the three hour session, the feedback was overwhelming with a final round of applause and the ringleader of the group announcing, ‘We’ve never clapped any of these training sessions befORR!’ I think I’ll take that as a compliment.
Shonette Bason-Wood would have been well impressed as we a version of Gove Dough Disco!
It was such a lovely surprise to receive the most ORRsome gift from a fellow Twitter tweeter!
I felt privileged to be invited to review Stephen Lockyer’s book too!
We are having a major toilet refurbishment in our KS2 department and it is happening around us. It makes the children laugh when the contractor refers to the job as being in a ‘live school’.
By the end of the second week we discover every drain has collapsed beneath all 8 sets of toilets. At present they are working on four sets – two staff and two children’s sets.
The befORR shots show clearly how awful the toilets were. Our children deserve better than the ‘squalor’ I believe these toilets to be.
Then phase one befORR the drilling starts next week.
Was equally ORRsome to receive another invite from ENO opera singer to join him at a Proms Concert in June.
Busy week at school with two mORR SCITT student sessions, a SATS meeting for parents as well as interviewing for premises manager.
Fabulous result – Primary SCITT students have been an absolute joy to work with. Their feedback makes it very humbling to have the privilege of sharing what you do and loving what you do!
Another busy week resulting in 8/10 evenings arriving home after 7pm but well worth it.
Governors shortlisted for a caretaker and gave me quite a challenging grilling during our SIP committee. We presented our learning hub to this committee and I invited our e-learning leader to take them through how children, staff use it followed by the governor section and how they will be able to use and develop it. Governors were wowed by it and we are really lucky to have a member of staff who is creating and driving this platform.
Safeguarding training was very well attended by all members of staff and the feedback from the session very positive.
I ended the week faffing with gel nails. I’m not normally one for painting a colour as it simply chips and doesn’t really stay on properly and I end up removing it. However, one of my staff suggested buying a UV machine as they are cheap as chips on Amazon.
Here’s the first attempt! I couldn’t make up my mind which colours I wanted to test from the selection I had purchased.
Toilet refurb update:-
This week began with a cooking session for the freezer – some turkey mince chilli and a shepherd’s type pie.
We appointed a fabulous caretaker and know we will have a cracking premises team of staff. This team is going to make such a difference to our school.
I faffed assembling some stools – needed them to have my very own nail bar! Lol
The drilling has stopped and the toilets look quite different. We are hoping to have these sets finished over half term and start on the next 4 sets.
As the month has come to an end, it would be wrong not to have purchased some heels…..
Oh, and the postman brought this…..
Ending the month and seeing in February at a friend’s engagement party.
Now to choose the dress and the heels. Oh, and paint the nails!
Hope your January was fun-filled.
Here’s to February!
