365 days in my shoes Day 208

My last day with the kids at Shotton Primary School…..

What a day!

We generally have staff briefings at 8.30am on a Friday morning just to catch up on any business that affects the following week. If it can be done in a memo or email then we don’t meet for meetings’ sake. Equally, we try not to use staff meeting time for this updating of information as it eats into staff time.

On my last day I shared a slideshow of photos celebrating the entire year through the children’s eyes.

The music accompanying the slideshow was:-

And….

And….

Definitely a GOOD, BETTER, BEST. NEVER LET IT REST UNTIL YOUR GOOD IS BETTER AND YOUR BETTER, BEST!

The mORRning saw and endless stream of kids knocking on my door and spoiling me rotten. Never have I seen so many wonderful and incredibly thoughtful gifts. It was so hard to keep my composure and not let the tears flow at 9am. I have been really privileged to be head teacher to such an amazing bunch of kids. Nothing else matters.

You can see there is a theme running here. Lol

By lunchtime I could no longer see my desk.

Governors had been invited to a buffet lunch with all the staff as there were several presentations to be made.

I presented to three staff who were getting married, 4 leaving, one retiring, a maternity leave and then it was my turn.

Chair of governors spoke and brought me right to the edge of tears. Really struggled to fight them back, however, I was determined my waterproof mascara would not need touching up.

I received Pandora gifts to add to my collection as well as a very well thought out gift. My new school is Holy Trinity Rosehill VA CE Primary School.

You can see why the gift is so apt.

I have lost count of how many bottles of pink fizz are now sitting in my wine rack, fridge or airing cupboard (overflow wine store).

As lunchtime ended I was summoned to the main entrance to be greeted by this…..

It is amazing. I’d love to keep the top of it.

Those of you who know me well enough will cry, wheat allergy alert! I know.

It is currently sitting in my freezer and will make an appearance on my first day at my new school. Goodbye and hello all in one moment! Love it. Couldn’t think of a better way to share it.

The afternoon started with a special assembly. Each class had something to share from poems, raps, songs and even a fashion show.

These are the most amazing shoe designs by year one kids just for me. If every design could be made into the real deal, I’d have every pair. They are truly amazing and I will have to display them on the wall in my two new offices.

I was presented at the end of the assembly with the most amazing flowers and fabulous picture.

I didn’t have a leaving speech written and had always intended to have the last word, or rather, the last note.

I sang an operatic aria to my kids https://soundcloud.com/rachel-orr/o-mio-babbino-caro

Time to make a memory.

Following this assembly I was escorted to my room along with three governors who were told not to let me out.

Half an hour later I was invited outside to our outdoor quadrangle we call the Peace Garden to be greeted by my very own string quartet playing an hour of Mozart accompanied by fizz and strawberries. It was totally ORRsome!

Definitely a moment where MOZART IS IN THE HOUSE!
